The Argüelles neighborhood was born during the Ensanche expansion period and is a magnificent example of bourgeois Madrid. Bordered by the Temple of Debod Park and Princesa Street, it extends in a narrow strip from Plaza de España toward Parque del Oeste, bounded by Pintor Rosales, Irún, Paseo de Moret, Ferraz and Princesa streets, as well as Plaza de España and Cuesta de San Vicente. Its streets preserve palaces such as that of Infanta Isabel de Borbón and former asylums and convents, such as the Buen Suceso. It is an ideal place to live, given its fairly central location, its green surroundings facing Parque del Oeste and Parque de la Montaña (where the Egyptian Temple of Debod stands), and the presence of numerous shops, leisure areas, bars and restaurants with attractive terraces. Its streets concentrate the city’s largest number of original-version cinemas, and its distinctive Walk of Fame has seen a number of important figures from Spanish cinema pass by. One of the capital’s most distinctive areas for its variety and excellent infrastructure: six schools, several early-childhood education centers, an outpatient clinic, a specialist center, and a wide range of supermarkets and restaurants. In addition, the district has excellent transport links thanks to its proximity, on the one hand, to the M-30, the A-6, the Carretera de Castilla, and the Moncloa Transport Hub—with direct access to the Sierra de Madrid—and, on the other hand, access to the city center.
