Proaño is a locality in the Cantabrian municipality of the Hermandad de Campoo de Suso, in Cantabria, and it borders to the north on Polaciones, the Campoo-Cabuérniga Commonwealth and Los Tojos; to the east on Campoo de Enmedio and Valdeolea; and to the south on the province of Palencia (Castile and León), from which it is separated by the Híjar mountain range. It is 60 km from Santander.
The most notable natural feature of Proaño is a magnificent oak forest that grows west of the village on the slopes of Liguardi Peak up to the vicinity of the village of La Hoz de Abiada. From this locality, people usually climb Liguardi Peak (1,967 m), the eastern end of the Sierra del Cordel, although it can also be climbed from the Palombera Pass.
10 kilometers from Reinosa, where you have all services such as a hospital, shops and restaurants with exceptional cuisine.
