Son Serra de Marina is a long sandy beach located in the Bay of Alcúdia, within the municipality of Santa Margalida, between Can Picafort and Colònia de Sant Pere. Its coarse, brownish sand mixes with posidonia remains along the shore, highlighting the natural and almost untouched character of this beach, which stretches for over one kilometre and is about 25 metres wide. Its crystal-clear waters—often bioluminescent and generally very calm—invite you to swim and fully relax. The landscape alternates sandy sections with small rocky areas and is backed by a protected dune system that enhances its wild charm.
On its right side flows the Torrent de na Borges, the natural border between the municipalities of Santa Margalida and Artà. To the left are the facilities of Club Nàutic Serra Nova. The area has no hotels, giving it a particularly peaceful atmosphere; most nearby buildings are villas or single-family homes.
Son Serra de Marina is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts. Snorkelling is highly recommended, especially near the rocks and the stream mouth. You can also enjoy paddle surfing—equipment rental is available nearby—and canoeing, perfect for exploring the coast at your own pace. Cycling lovers will find varied routes close by.
Another must-do experience is a horseback excursion through the area’s unspoilt landscapes: you’ll ride along forest paths and pine groves with privileged views of Mallorca’s northern coastline. It’s a relaxing activity suitable for everyone, from beginners to experienced riders, always guided by an expert.
The only bus line that reaches Son Serra de Marina is the 392, which connects directly with Can Picafort.
