Induno Olona is a municipality of 10,256 inhabitants in the province of Varese in Lombardy. Geographically, it is located at the intersection of Valganna and Valceresio, traversed in the Olona district by the river of the same name, which through one of its side branches forms the Valganna waterfalls. The municipality is situated between the Varese Prealps and lies at the foot of Monte Monarco. There are many buildings rich in historical significance. Noteworthy are especially the Castle of Frascarolo, originally a fortress and later purchased by the Medici family of Marignano, who made it their residence, and the Chapel of San Pietro in Silvis, the oldest of the 11 churches in Induno. In the Olona area, there are both the Italian production headquarters of the Swiss chocolate Lindt and the Angelo Poretti Brewery, a fine example of Art Nouveau style, part of the Danish Carlsberg group. The municipality of Induno Olona, only 5 km from the city of Varese and the motorway to Milan, is served by the main educational institutions, including kindergarten, primary school, secondary school, as well as by the main services, banks, post office, library, and the recent railway station inaugurated in 2017 that connects the city to Varese, Mendrisio, Lugano, Bellinzona, and the international airport of Malpensa. The Swiss border of Porto Ceresio is 11 km away, while that of Ponte Tresa is 18 km away. The international airport of Malpensa is conveniently reachable by traveling 45 km.
