This property is located in Rales, one of the hundred villages in the council of Llanes. Halfway between the sea and the mountains, Rales is one of those villages that retains its rural essence, where typical Asturian farmhouses, with their antojanas, hórreos, and gardens, blend with the indiano mansions and some new houses, built with a certain traditional air without disrupting the surroundings. Rales has almost eighty residents, with a few more joining in the summer to enjoy their second home or family house. It is the natural entrance to the Ardisana valley, bordering Posada, Los Carriles, and Naves, surrounded by forests and crossed by the Bedón River. In addition to being traversed by the most abundant trout river in Llanes, it also has several caves, including the Salmoreli, Pozo del Molino, or Juentica caves, all of great interest to speleology enthusiasts. There are abundant springs, with Pumares standing out, already a century old and where the traditional ceremony of enrame takes place, linked to San Juan, summer, flowers, and branches of rosemary and laurel. In its landscape, Pico Castillo stands out, whose silhouette is inseparably associated with Rales, which was born and grew at its feet. A medieval fortress, now in ruins, once stood there, from which the entire valley and a wide coastal area could be monitored. The Rales of the past was closely linked to the Monastery of San Antolín de Bedón. Today it has its own church dedicated to Santa María Magdalena. It had its typical village bar, now closed, and its school. Today it has tourist accommodations, a hotel, and is the headquarters of some local businesses. It is a unique enclave, surrounded by nature, routes, and trails to enjoy outdoor sports, by bike or on foot, quiet roads that lead us to Nueva and its beaches, passing through Los Carriles and its viewpoint to Los Picos de Europa, or the path along the Bedón River to reach San Antolín, an extensive sandy area ideal for beach and surf lovers. Or venture into the Picos de Europa by crossing the gorge of the Cabras River. And if we want to enjoy other services and more urban environments, we have Posada nearby and the town of Llanes about 12 kilometers away. This eastern area offers us a wide range of services: hospital, health centers, shops, markets, and all kinds of restaurants to enjoy the excellent gastronomy of Asturias. Oviedo, Gijón, and Santander and their respective airports are an hour away by highway. The nearest and most well-known localities are Llanes, Ribadesella, as well as Cabrales and Los Picos de Europa, which are 15 minutes away.
