Santa Caterina di Valfurva is one of the most famous tourist and ski resorts in Valtellina, an ideal destination for those who appreciate unspoilt nature and winter sports. Located in the heart of the Stelvio National Park, among the majestic peaks of the Rhaetian Alps, this resort offers top-level skiing, perfect both for snow sports enthusiasts and for those who want to enjoy a relaxing holiday in the mountains. Santa Caterina is part of the vast Valtellina Ski area, with over 100 km of slopes at an altitude of between 1,800 and 3,000 metres. Thanks to this favourable position and the modern snowmaking systems, the ski area is considered to have guaranteed snow until April. The slopes are suitable for all levels, from beginners to experts, with a good mix of easy and adrenaline-fuelled runs, as well as snow parks and areas dedicated to cross-country skiing. The resort is also famous for its cross-country ski circuit and the numerous opportunities for snowshoeing, allowing you to explore the snowy landscapes of the Stelvio Park in complete tranquillity. During the summer season, the village becomes an ideal starting point for hiking and mountain biking. The community of Santa Caterina di Valfurva is small and welcoming, with a strong connection between residents. Most of the population live a simple life in close contact with nature, often linked to mountain traditions and working in the tourism sector. The local gastronomy is a mix of rustic and alpine flavours. Among the most representative dishes are pizzoccheri, polenta taragna, local cheeses and, of course, bresaola.
