Clusane, a delightful village on the shores of Lake Iseo, is a hamlet of the famous municipality of Iseo; its name means “Village of the Locks.” Thanks to its privileged location, close to the centers of Iseo, Paratico, Sarnico, and Franciacorta, Clusane has much to offer beyond the charm of an ancient village. Its advantageous position allows quick access to the highway and the cities of Bergamo, Brescia, and Milan.

In the village, dating back to the Middle Ages, there is the famous Cluniac monastery, currently called Castello Carmagnola, founded by two monks who also led land reclamation works on the predominantly marshy territory. Around the monastery, the historic center of Clusane developed, with its Old Church (deconsecrated) that houses a wonderful small theater.

With the construction of the new parish church, modern development began, and now the village extends up to Monte Alto, with countryside cultivated with cereals, vineyards, mulberries, olive trees, and fruit trees.

The lakeside promenade of Clusane, which borders part of the historic center, is lively with the bustling Marina that hosts the fish market, a delightful playground, and numerous restaurants and cafés. Ferries also depart from the port connecting Clusane with Sarnico, Lovere, Monte Isola, and Pisogne.

Every July, the lakeside comes alive for the “Week of Baked Tench,” celebrating the local delicacy and the signature dish of Clusane — baked tench with polenta. Also well-known during the winter season is the Clusane Carnival, featuring the traditional parade of allegorical floats and masks.
