Surfing in Ericeira The Ericeira region is well known in terms of surfing due to the waves in the area, which surfers say are different. It has highly regarded beaches for surfing such as Ribeira d' Ilhas beach (surfing world reserve), Coxos beach in Ribamar, among many others. Kitesurfing, windsurfing, bodyboarding and stand-up paddle are also practiced. Ericeira is the first world surfing reserve in Europe and the second in the world. This village is also good for bathers, having plenty of hotels and good quality beaches such as Praia dos Pescadores, Praia do Norte and also the beaches of Coxos and São Lourenço in the neighboring village of Ribamar.
