This 17th-century quinta in Rego, Celorico de Basto, in the Braga District of northern Portugal, was fully renovated in 2025 and preserves the rustic character of a building constructed predominantly from granite. The property extends over a 4,000 m² plot and has a total built area of 726 m², distributed between two buildings: a main house with seven suites and a separate building with two independent two-bedroom apartments (T2). The quinta is currently operated as a rural tourism business and is equally suitable as a primary residence or a spacious family estate.
The quinta has an energy performance certificate rated B-. The 2025 renovation combines traditional granite and oak construction with galvanized metal elements and modern comfort and building-services systems. Climate control is provided by underfloor heating and fan-coil units, supplemented by controlled mechanical ventilation (CMV). Domestic hot water is produced by an electric heat pump. The suites in both T2 apartments have air conditioning.
The main house has an entrance hall and extends over two floors. The upper floor contains the seven suites, a fully equipped open-plan kitchen integrated into the dining area, a living room with gallery or mezzanine, and a separate breakfast room set up for breakfast service.
The wine gallery on the lower floor of the main house is the quinta’s dedicated area for wine tastings and social gatherings. The property is located in the demarcated Vinho Verde wine region. This floor also contains a second, fully equipped rustic-style kitchen, a utility room and storage space. These areas are separate from the upper floor with the seven suites.
The two T2 apartments are located in their own two-storey building—one on the ground floor and one on the first floor—and operate completely independently of the main house. The first-floor apartment has an equipped kitchen. This independence makes it possible to accommodate families or groups with appropriate privacy.
The quinta’s swimming pool, equipped with saltwater treatment and located between the main house and the building containing the two T2 apartments, forms the central area for outdoor leisure and socializing. The property also has a private car park with spaces for 12 vehicles, integrated into the 4,000 m² plot.
For an investor, the quinta offers the opportunity to continue operating an established rural tourism business. Its current layout, with seven suites in the main house and two independent T2 apartments, makes it possible to market individual rooms as well as apartments for families or groups at the same time. The wine gallery and breakfast room complement the offering with on-site wine tastings and breakfast service.
In addition to tourist use, the quinta can also serve as a primary residence, spacious family estate or second home. The main house can be reserved for the owners, while the two T2 apartments can be made available to family members or guests. The division into two independent buildings therefore also allows private residential use and tourist rental to be combined on the same property.
