Living in the 3rd district of Graz

Lively Geidorf: between historic old buildings and eccentric new buildings

Main building of the University of Graz in the Geidorf district with an elegant beige facade. The university is the second oldest university in Austria and was founded in 1585.

Geidorf was originally part of Graz's city center, nestled within the historic city walls near Paulustor. As the population grew and the district expanded, it was relocated to its current site. Despite this shift, Geidorf has retained its inner-city charm, enchanting residents day after day.

The district is distinguished by its beautiful front gardens, a hallmark of the Gründerzeit era, which line select streets with elegance. Additionally, a villa quarter emerged, extending along the southern and western slopes of the scenic Rosenhain, adding to Geidorf’s unique architectural character.
