Description

In the ancient hamlet of Torre, on the first hills above Porto Valtravaglia, stands this enchanting residence that encloses a world waiting to be discovered, set in an atmosphere of absolute peace and quiet. The history of the house is naturally linked to that of the hamlet of Torre, which dates back to around the 9th century, and to the picturesque area that hosts it. Its elevated position over the lake and the layout with the ring of walls formed by the houses bear witness to traces of history, now preserved thanks to renovations that have not altered its character, while also safeguarding its privacy and the silence of the past. The entrance gate leads into the inner courtyard and the garden, adorned with plants and a characteristic stone washhouse, overlooked by the old barn, now used as an outdoor dehor for welcoming guests, equipped with a ping-pong table and barbecue. From the side portico one enters the main villa, arranged over four floors served by an internal lift. On the ground floor there is a hobby room with vaulted ceiling and exposed brick, used as a billiard room, and the large kitchen with its impressive original stone fireplace. Five bedrooms are located on the three upper floors, in addition to a small apartment (approx. 35 sq m) with a double bedroom, bathroom and fully equipped eat-in kitchen, accommodating up to 16 people. There are also numerous living areas: on the second floor, a lake-view lounge houses the living room, while on the third floor there are two more lounges, again with fireplace and panoramic views, finished with fine materials and architectural details that combine the charm of the past with modern comforts. The residence overlooks a large, level garden, well planted and enriched with botanical varieties and fruit trees. The swimming pool is also here: an ideal place to relax on warm summer days and entertain guests. Adjacent to the property there is also the possibility of purchasing a three-storey rustic building, overlooking the inner courtyard and, from the upper floors, the lake, to be renovated should additional space be desired. The lake, with its beaches and all services, is just 5 minutes away.

Location: Porto Valtravaglia, Lombardy

Porto Valtravaglia lies on the Lombardy shore of Lake Maggiore, 10 minutes from Luino. Here the lake has crystal-clear transparency, offering a beautiful panorama. It is a well-known seaside resort thanks to its small beaches and landscapes of rare beauty, which make it possible to organize boat trips or mountain walks. Picturesque hamlets, the small harbor, the ancient washhouses, the little churches and historic buildings make it a charming destination. Porto Valtravaglia has all services and is connected to Milan and nearby Switzerland thanks to the railway station; moreover, the port provides all the necessary links to visit the beauties of Lake Maggiore. Not far away is Luino with all its attractions and services. Luino is marked by history and culture, with an inclination toward literature. Luino is famous for its wonderful new lakeside promenade, featuring two children’s play areas, a walkway suspended over the lake and also a beach, “le Serenelle”, recently certified for excellent bathing water quality. Another beach, not far from Luino, is in the hamlet of Colmegna, famous for its crystal-clear waters. The walk through the historic center is lovely, with its uphill lanes, Renaissance and Baroque townhouses, the arcades of inner courtyards, artisan workshops and shops. One of the main attractions is the Wednesday market, one of Luino’s key events: a true weekly fair, with over 350 stalls set out along the streets of the center and on the lakeside. For sports lovers, or in any case those who enjoy life on the water, there is the Alto Verbano sailing association. Not far from Luino, in Maccagno, is the small Forcora ski resort.
