Description

In the heart of the historic village of the Castle of Andora, the vision of the project arises from a deep understanding of the place and is structured into three connected levels, following the natural slope of the land and the historical terracing system. The existing stone forms the narrative foundation of the project: irregular, time-worn walls that become structure, containment, and story. The first level, on floor -1, is the most intimate and protected, almost carved into the material of the place. Here, four bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and a cozy yet open living area find their space. The extensive garden area, the green heart of the project, also opens at this level, where the pool naturally fits into the design of the historical terraces, as a place of peace and contemplation suspended between stone, vegetation, and sky. The second level, on the ground floor, represents the more convivial dimension: the main living room, a bedroom, and a bathroom follow each other in a fluid and bright sequence, with access to a large panoramic terrace with sea view, a direct extension of the living space and a space for interaction. The last level hosts the most private part of the house: the master room, conceived as a panoramic suite with a dedicated bathroom and private terrace, from which the village, sea, and castle ruins offer an intimate and privileged view. The project is completed with six external parking spaces, integrated into the site, and two independent accesses to the property, ensuring flexibility and privacy. The project reveals a skillful overlap of times and functions: at the base, earth and stone, above the inhabited levels open to light, and finally, the brick coverings that recompose a skyline consistent with the historic village. The project has completed the entire authorization process: all approvals have been obtained and obligations fulfilled. The intervention is thus ready to start construction, in the phase where architecture ceases to be a drawing and becomes a real presence in the landscape. The Castle of Andora is not a backdrop but a living presence, and architecture returns to being built memory, habitable landscape, an emotion that traverses time without being consumed.

    Location: Pian Rosso-Costa, Liguria

Andora is a coastal town in the western Ligurian region, in the province of Savona, famous for its picturesque beaches. Welcoming and pleasant in the summer for its beaches and marina, which has recently been structured to accommodate important yachts, Andora is also beautiful in winter for the opportunity to explore its hinterland, with its numerous buildings, including the famous Castle, known as "Paraxo", of great historical significance. The Pinamare area, unique in its kind, offers an escape from the bustling life of the center, allowing you to experience, without compromise, the union between the Ligurian Apennines bathed at its feet by the clear and splendid Andorean waters, a blue flag for years. Just a few kilometers away from Alassio, Sanremo, and the French Riviera, it is indeed a place to see and discover. This area is rich with shops, boutiques, restaurants, and cafes, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere. Ligurian cuisine is renowned for dishes based on fish and olive oil, pesto, and local wines now famous worldwide: Vermentino and Pigato. The city offers a wide range of restaurants serving local specialties, including the famous Ligurian focaccia or even the Sanremo purple shrimp. There are many activities to engage in and medieval villages to visit, festivals with international resonance, and marine peculiarities such as the whale sanctuary. Among the various peculiarities, there is a protected area under environmental constraint to protect the unique species of maritime pines, and thanks to their presence, it creates a fairytale-like microclimate. Choosing to live in this place, immersing yourself in the greenery along with the scent of the sea, represents a privilege for few but not for everyone!!!
