What you should know about this house

Amenities and special features of this house

This ground-floor flat occupies a surface of 405 m², of which 365 m² is overbuilt and 40 m² is terrace. Each room benefits from daylight through the high windows. This property can be used multifunctionally: as a home, two flats, shop, office or a combination of the above. The property is possibly divisible into two separate parts (provided for in the basic deed). There are two different entrances. There is also a lift that goes directly from the garage into the building (with a private key).
The property was formerly used as the official residence of the provincial governor and was completely renovated in 2012. There is a new spacious garage underground that can be purchased as an option.
The property has an enormous volume (about 1800 m³) because the ceiling height is almost everywhere 5 metres. The largest part of the building is richly decorated with ornaments in mansion style. At the back, a new gallery was added to the original building and a new terrace was created. Here, a grey lava stone floor was used.
The central heating is controlled by two gas condensing boilers and has very modern radiators. The property is fully equipped with home automation for lighting and music (multiroom). There is an alarm and camera security.
Possibility to obtain parking spaces (for rent or for sale) at 100 metres in the Braempoort.

Ghent (city): Location and surroundings of this property

Some of the crown jewels of Ghent's cultural heritage can be found in the immediate vicinity of the building. The majestic Saint Bavo Cathedral with its world-famous Mystic Lamb painting by the Van Eyck brothers is literally around the corner. Recently, the Reep - the water between Portus Ganda and the Bisschoppelijk Paleis - has been uncovered and equipped with beautiful quay walls where you can enjoy the sun on one of the many terraces. In the other direction is the new, modernist library complex De Krook, which is a crossroads of culture and small-scale but innovative enterprises. And in the nearby Vlaanderenstraat, too, a wind of renewal and renovation is blowing. The beautiful art nouveau town houses combine living, business and pleasure. Many stylish shops and (star) restaurants here take you in the direction of the Zuid-site with its extensive Ghent "Central Park"; the lungs of the city.
You can go in all directions from here. Two important intersections (Korenmarkt and Zuid) of bus and tram lines are within walking distance of the building. There is an immediate connection to the motorway via the Zuid. There are also plenty of public and private parking facilities in the immediate vicinity. And although this property is located right in the historic city centre, the street and its surroundings are not at all busy.
This neighbourhood breathes and lives to the rhythm of the city. Even on Sundays, when the people of Ghent stroll through the weekly flower market on the nearby Kouter and enjoy their apero afterwards. Whichever way you go, Sunday is just around the corner here.
