The latest edition of the Mobile World Congress, the most important event in the world on technology and mobile phones, is just around the corner. In fact, this year it will take place between February 26th and March 1st, as always at the Fira Barcelona congress centre. The event is followed by the announcement that the city will remain as the host at least until 2023.
To reinforce the image of our brand at Engel & Völkers, we will show some videos with outstanding properties on the screens that are in the waiting room of the Europa Fira station, which enables FGC to prepare for the upcoming Mobile Phone Congress.
The economic data surrounding the Mobile World Congress
Specifically, the Mobile World Congress 2018 will be the thirteenth edition of the event and will have approximately 2300 exhibitors within the Fira Barcelona Gran Vía venue. To this we must add that around 108,000 people will be expected to attend. This figure is quite similar to the one registered in 2017, which was a record breaking year for the event.
It may seem that the lower number of people in the attendance forecasts compared to previous editions is a negative data for the Mobile World Congress 2018. However, we must bear in mind that the high attendance for these events was due to the presentations of Mark Zuckerberg (2016) and Reed Hastings, CEO of Netflix (2017). This time, the organisers have opted to move away from celebrities and will instead be focusing on the in-depth analysis of the sector from the voices of professionals who are specialised in the area of research that's more unknown to the general public.
The arrival of 170 international delegations from all the corners of the world is also expected. In addition, the event is expected to generate 471 million euros for the city of Barcelona during the four days in which it takes place and create a total of 13,000 temporary jobs. However, the final figures will not be known until the end of the event.
