The latest edition of the Mobile World Congress, the most important event in the world on technology and mobile phones, is just around the corner. In fact, this year it will take place between February 26th and March 1st, as always at the Fira Barcelona congress centre. The event is followed by the announcement that the city will remain as the host at least until 2023.
To reinforce the image of our brand at Engel & Völkers, we will show some videos with outstanding properties on the screens that are in the waiting room of the Europa Fira station, which enables FGC to prepare for the upcoming Mobile Phone Congress.
Specifically, the Mobile World Congress 2018 will be the thirteenth edition of the event and will have approximately 2300 exhibitors within the Fira Barcelona Gran Vía venue. To this we must add that around 108,000 people will be expected to attend. This figure is quite similar to the one registered in 2017, which was a record breaking year for the event.
It may seem that the lower number of people in the attendance forecasts compared to previous editions is a negative data for the Mobile World Congress 2018. However, we must bear in mind that the high attendance for these events was due to the presentations of Mark Zuckerberg (2016) and Reed Hastings, CEO of Netflix (2017). This time, the organisers have opted to move away from celebrities and will instead be focusing on the in-depth analysis of the sector from the voices of professionals who are specialised in the area of research that's more unknown to the general public.
The arrival of 170 international delegations from all the corners of the world is also expected. In addition, the event is expected to generate 471 million euros for the city of Barcelona during the four days in which it takes place and create a total of 13,000 temporary jobs. However, the final figures will not be known until the end of the event.
The Mobile World Congress always brings great surprises for consumers. In fact, the main brands in the sector tend to take advantage of it in order to publicise some of their main products of the year. There have already been some announcements that generated huge expectations.
Samsung will present the new Galaxy S9
After a few years of absence, at the 2017 edition of Mobile World Congress, Nokia returned with HMD Global. The company surprised its audience with the presentation of the Nokia 6 and with the 'remake' of the iconic 3310. This time, it has been revealed that the company will go one step further and announce another technological feature of the model, with 4G coverage, Wi-Fi connectivity and open-source Android operating system that would make it possible to use WhatsApp - Fantastic news for the users!
Nokia will take the 4G to the legendary 3310
On February 25th, a day before the Mobile World Congress 2018 begins, Huawei will announce to the world its new line of 'smartphones'. Among them should be the update about the company's phone, the P10. However, there are many doubts about whether its final denomination will be P11 or P20. In any case, we must wait until then to find out its specifications and check the operation of the only one that has been filtered to date, which is the inclusion of a triple camera.
Waiting to see what Xiaomi will offer
Xiaomi has become, on its own merits, one of the leading brands of the latest editions of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Although there is no official announcement about their presentations at the event, it is expected to cause a sensation again. However, everything seems to indicate that in this event there will be no introduction to the Mi7, a model that will probably not be released until spring.
Other brands will also make important presentations at the event. For example, Sony will release the Xperia L2, XA2, XA2 Ultra and, although it has not yet been confirmed, the XZ Pro. For its part, LG will do the same with its redesign of the G7 and the new version of the V30, although it is true that the company is rumoured to unveil its unique 'smartwatch'.
