In the Community of Madrid, the arrival of autumn and, in particular, October, is when the hunting season begins. Since this activity is regulated by annual ordinances that provide for the opening and closing of the closures, as well as many other interesting rules, here we will explain everything you need to know if you are passionate about this exciting sport.
Small game season
The small game season in the woodlands began on October 8th and will end on 31st January 2017. The exact days that are authorised for hunting purposes will be on Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays and national holidays in Madrid.
In the case of private hunting areas, the law states that an area of at least 250 hectares may be used for hunting wood pigeon, turtle dove, the European starling, jackdaw, crow, magpie, quail and fox. This season, hunting activities will run from August 15th to September 15th 2017 and, except in the case of the turtle dove and quail species, which can only be ten captured per hunter per day, there is no limit to how many other species you can hunt.
