Today we would like to highlight the most beautiful hiking routes in Mallorca’s Southwest. Put your shoes on and let’s go on a hike!

Ruta de Pedra en Sec GR221 – Dry Stone Route

If you’re into hiking, you probably heard about the ‘Ruta de Pedra en Sec’. It is a popular eight-day trek up the mountains in Mallorca’s West. Of course you don’t need to walk the complete hiking route, as you can step in and out wherever you want to. This route goes all the way from Port Andratx in Mallorca’s Southwest up to Port de Pollensa in the northwest of Mallorca, following cobbled paths through the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Serra de Tramuntana. We’re talking about 168.4 kilometres of signposted trails through dry stonework terraces, mountain villages, pine and holm oak forests and olive groves. Even though this route is popular from beginning to end, its most visited part is the path from Estellencs to Esporles.

We should not forget that in addition to being outdoors and practicing sport, you will also be able to catch some breath-taking sea views on the way! If living nearby this beautiful route in Mallorca’s West is something you’re looking for, we’ll be happy to find the perfect property for you. Deià, Valldemossa and Sóller and their special charm are always a great choice when it comes to choosing a picturesque home in the mountains. If you keep moving north, you will come across the beautiful towns of Pollensa, Alcudia and their ports. Or would you rather buy a villa with sea views in Port Andratx and enjoy the impressive Mediterranean lifestyle in the southwest of the island?

Hiking route from Camp de Mar to ‘Sa Mola’

 Balearic Islands

If you’re familiar with Mallorca’s geography, you may know that Camp de Mar has one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. Located in Mallorca’s Southwest, Camp de Mar offers calm and crystal clear waters, a wide stretch of sand and a little rocky cove to explore. It is also famous due to its eye-catching restaurant ‘Illeta’, which is accessed by a wooden bridge directly from the beach. If you’ve watched the Netflix series ‘White Lines’, you’ll probably recognize this restaurant right away, as it was used to film one of the first scenes. The hike from Camp de Mar to ‘Sa Mola’ will take you along the coast and then all over to Port Andratx, offering a total route of 11 kilometres surrounded by Mediterranean beauty.

Port Andratx’s impressive coastal location makes it one of the island’s key property hotspots, with spacious homes with inspiring views that are both private and secluded. Engel & Völkers Port Andratx offers an extensive variety of modern villas, impressive estates and traditional fincas that overlook the ocean. Some have private access to the sea which is, quite literally, at your feet.

Hike from Portals Vells to Cala Figuera

 Balearic Islands
- Hiking routes Mallorca southwest

If you’re looking for a short and nice hike in Mallorca’s Southwest here’s our recommendation for you: the trail that takes you from Portals Vells to Cala Figuera’s lighthouse. ‘Portals Vells’ is one of the most beautiful coves in Mallorca’s Southwest. From there, a rocky path from the beach leads you over to another smaller beach, passing the caves on the left. Next you will be following the coastline northbound whilst ascending. Final destination is the lighthouse at Cala Figuera, where you will need to take a moment to admire the views. This hike takes around 2 hours and you can find its detailed itinerary in the book ‘Mallorca, the finest coastal and Mountain walks by Rolf Goetz.

With a wide expat community, Portals Nous and Puerto Portals are two of the most sought-after areas for real estate in Mallorca. Dramatic rural surroundings, incredible beaches and the relaxed atmosphere are appealing to national, local and international buyers who are interested to buy a property in one of Mallorca's best locations.

Properties in top location

Modern villas in contemporary design and spacious plots characterise this area, where you can literally feel the modern interpretation of Mediterranean lifestyle. Perhaps you are looking for a villa in Portals that combines luxury and design with a picturesque sea view? Or would you prefer buying a luxury apartment or penthouse in an exclusive residential complex in Portals? In the real estate hotspot of Portals, you have the choice. Engel & Völkers Mallorca is happy to help you find the home of your dreams.
