1. Put a photo in your profile

LinkedIn members claim they are seven times more likely to check out those profiles with photos than the ones without. So make sure you include a professional and good quality photo of yourself in your profile.

2. Update your profile often

It is important to update your profile every few days, especially if you are looking for a job. This way, it will be more accessible to other users and they will know that they can contact you as soon as they log into the platform.

3. Be creative

Summarise what you do in a creative and original way. Keep in mind that the headline space only allows 120 characters so you must use it to capture the attention of all those who access your profile.

4. Your profile is your contact info

If your wish is to be contacted by people who check out your profile and are not in your network list, create a call to action in your profile specifying your personal website, your phone number or your email address.

5. Focus on your skills

Do not just say which companies you have worked for in the past. The best thing to do is to detail the exact tasks you performed, in what kind of projects you participated and what objectives you reached. If possible, reinforce this information with verifiable data.

No se limite a decir para qué empresas trabajó en el pasado. Sin duda, lo mejor es detallar qué funciones realizó en concreto, en qué proyectos participó y qué objetivos alcanzó. Refuerce la información, si es posible, con datos contrastables.

6. Do not forget your English language skills

Knowledge of the English language is fundamental in the business world today. Therefore, do not forget to specify your skills in this regard as well your proficiency level.

7. Give and receive reviews

On LinkedIn you can give and ask for feedback. Never miss the opportunity to let your followers give positive reviews about you.

8. Follow other profiles and join groups

You never know behind which profile or group is the perfect career opportunity you have been waiting so anxiously for.

9. Customise your contact URL

LinkedIn provides you with a direct contact URL. However, it is too complex and impersonal to use. Simplify it with simpler data.

10. Give character to your profile

The best way to achieve this is through the header image. You can choose your own brand or one that specifically reflects your preferences.

11. Clean up your profile often

A LinkedIn profile is like a real CV. Every so often, it is necessary to delete those past work experiences that were once considered valuable and replace them with up-to-date info.

11. Haga limpieza periódicamente

Un perfil de LinkedIn es como un currículum de verdad. Con el paso del tiempo, es necesario eliminar aquellas experiencias y formaciones que, aunque en un momento determinado las considerase valiosas, ya no le aportan nada.
