5 tips for better time management

He expresses himself very well in the popular saying: "Time is money and whoever loses it loses a treasure." This famous quotation is not lacking in reason. Time is a limited and very valuable resource that is consumed at any moment, whether or not it is used. The greater the responsibility exercised, the more imperative the need for good time management. Here are five tips that allow you to increase efficiency and performance by improving time management at the workplace.

1. Identifying objectives and priorities

Defining objectives and priorities in the short and long term allows for clarification of ideas and a constant line of action. This will avoid the execution of the tasks in a random way without following any planned criteria and postponing other priority activities.

2. Use collaborative tools and delegate tasks

The fact of exercising a responsibility in a company does not necessarily imply the undertaking of all the tasks as many of them can be delegated to other members of the organisation. This will avoid wasting time in secondary processes and will allow more time for the execution of the priority tasks. The use of collaborative tools allows working with documents from the cloud with other collaborators and facilitates their monitoring, control and supervision of tasks.

3. Use the resources provided by the Internet

The development of the telematic services offered from the Internet offers the possibility to save a lot of time in travelling and simplifies management. Tax payments, social security contributions, bank transfers, hotel reservations, transport ticket purchases, requests for budgets, billing and many other steps can be carried out in a virtual way with total comfort, maximum efficiency and minimum loss of time.

4. Take advantage of the potential offered by the smartphone

The latest generation mobile phones have become an essential tool for the company. Making the most of the possibilities offered by this device contributes to improving time management. In addition to the classic applications that are installed by default in the mobile phone (calendar, contacts directory, alarm clock, calculator, converter ... etc.) it enables the enjoyment of most of the services offered by a PC, but in a minimum space and in any geographical location. Every day, more applications that offer new resources to users are made available.

5. Focus on work and avoid distractions

We must be aware that working time should be devoted exclusively to your own work and should not be distracted with issues from other areas of life. Don't mix your personal issues with work as they will only reduce concentration and efficiency. The day must be programmed and focused on defined tasks. It is, therefore, not advisable to get involved in other non-urgent matters in the company.
