Completely restored 16th century Venetian villa in Caerano di San Marco – Treviso.
The Villa is part of the heritage of Venetian villas and is cataloged by the IRVV (regional institute for Venetian villas) with the number 00000127. The Villa Rovero complex is surrounded by a low wall made up of pebbles and brick courses, and is accessed along via San Marco by an ashlar arched portal.
After this portal you enter a courtyard kept as a garden which has the main body along the north side, while along the east and west sides a long building with arches in exposed masonry and wooden attics and a two-storey building facing the street (barchessa). The first layout of the villa dates back to the end of the 1500s, architecturally it is characterized by the pediment of the facade supported by pillars marking the central hall, the distributive pivot of all the rooms; above the main façade is completed by a central three-mullioned window.
Thanks to the sensitivity of the owners, inside the villa and not only on the noble floor, it is possible to admire enchanting frescoes by painters of the Veronese school, depicting rural scenes and heraldic coats of arms. The central body of Villa Rovero is spread over 3 floors and measures approximately 900 m2 in total
The barchessa is spread over 2 floors and measures a total of approximately 800 m2
Indoor swimming pool and caretaker's house 200 m2. Garden 3,500 m2
The villa has undergone renovations, preserving the original state where possible and is in an optimal state of conservation. The barchessa, on the other hand, needs to be restored and the swimming pool was never completed during construction.
The territory of Caerano di San Marco is largely flat, with altitudes ranging from 91 m a.s.l. to 144 m. The landscape is characterized by the presence of a small relief, a natural continuation of the Montello, known as Montelletto and locally as the Rive di Caerano located north-east of the municipality. The area is naturally poor in water courses but the water supply has been ensured, since ancient times, by a system of artificial canals deriving from the Piave. This is in particular the Canale di Caerano, better known as Brentella (Brentèa), a branch of the Brentella di Pederobba.
