What you should know about this villa

Amenities and special features of this villa

Villa Calvi is an extraordinary 18th century residence located directly on the shores of Lake Como; it was built by the Artaria family, music publishers of illustrious classical composers, including Haydn, Beethoven, Mozart, and Rossini. At the end of the 19th century Gerolamo Luigi Calvi, the new owner of the mansion, commissioned architect Citterio to expand and embellish the villa by adding new buildings. Today the residence showcase the main villa, two other smaller villas and a caretaker’s lodging and is immersed in a large flat secular park of about 5800 square meters. After a complete and meticulous restoration done between the years 2010 and 2013, this magnificent and unique residence has returned to its former glory, while respecting its’ past, maintains the linear and elegant layout of the original property, transforming it to a luxurious estate equipped with every comfort, consistent with modern lifestyle. From the entrance gate an avenue lined with majestic old trees leads to the residence. The ground floor of the main mansion features a triple living room with high ornate ceilings and French doors and breathtaking views of the gardens and lake. A large kitchen, pantry, service bathroom and an additional guest bathroom are also located on this floor. On the first and second floors there are seven bedrooms, six bathrooms and two large, bright living rooms. Featuring a more modern style, the attic is an ideal space as a TV room or play area, with a kitchenette and a bathroom. Valuable finishing materials embellish the mansion, such as marble, terracotta, painted decorations, and hardwood carefully chosen to recall the natural surroundings. Right by the main mansion is a smaller villa, consisting of a living room, kitchen, three bedrooms, a study, four bathrooms and several service rooms. From both villas, there is access to a courtyard with mosaic pebble paving, a beautiful outdoor space, with breathtaking views of the park and lake. The third villa features a living room, kitchen, dining room, three bedrooms and two bathrooms. French doors on the ground floor open onto the 170-meter-long private lake front stretch, with access to the pier for boat docking, while the floor below hosts a large, covered dock. The entrance to the residence is the caretaker’s lodgings consisting of a living room with kitchenette, two bedrooms, and two bathrooms. The center of secular park showcases a beautiful, heated swimming pool. The secondary entrance gate leads to the spacious garage that can accommodate eight cars under a cultivated orchard. This magnificent estate is the epitome of lake front luxury living and is undoubtedly one of the rarest and most irreplicable gems on Lake Como.
