Cadegliano Viconago is a pleasant village formed by open spaces with small squares and alleys, witnesses of the continuity of the social life of the local people linked to ancient traditions. The Liberty-style Old Station, now home to the municipal library, the clinic and the post office, is the work of the architect Sommaruga. An unmissable destination is the Argentera Park. The park is gathered all around the Dovrana stream, surrounded by nature where you can enjoy great peace. You can stroll to discover the many species of plants, admire the frescoes that adorn the old mills, go jogging or rest and read on one of the benches. The Tarca River rises in Cadegliano Viconago near Alpe Prada and flows into the Tresa River at Lavena Ponte Tresa, which marks the border with Switzerland. Its main tributaries are the Valle Ronco and Dovrana streams. The municipal territory overlooks Lake Lugano, otherwise known as Ceresio. This is a pre-Alpine lake branched along the Italian-Swiss border with an area of 48. 7 km². Ceresio is the Italianization of the Latin name Ceresium, of uncertain etymology: according to some it is to be identified in an ancient Roman toponym "Ceresium" whose most accurate translation would be: "more blue of the sky". Others, however, report that the name comes from the Celtic "keresius" which means "branched" and in fact the shape of Lake Ceresio is just branched, with more branches. The centre of the provincial capital, Varese, and the motorway to Milan are 19 km away, while Malpensa International Airport is 60 km away. The Swiss border can be easily reached by walking 3 km while the Golf Club Lugano is only 7 km away. After 15 km you reach the coast of Lake Maggiore.
