A houseboat gives vacationing in the Netherlands a whole new character. What better way to experience the country with the most waterways than from the water? And that is now possible with a floating villa! The possibilities with the houseboat are endless: spend a long weekend away , work in peace and quiet in nature, or enjoy a summer day with family or friends on the water. With this luxury houseboat, you can wake up every day in a different place. You can even purchase it as an investment and outsource the management.

These houseboats offer a surprising amount of space and comfort because of their smart layout, unique construction, large sliding doors and two terraces at the front and rear. Their design shows a passion for the outdoors, featuring wood and other natural materials to blend beautifully into nature. They have been built to be completely sustainable and self-sufficient. It’s a true home on the water!

Layout and description of the houseboat
Surla 15 is 15 meters long and has two bedrooms. It is the largest houseboat in the fleet and comfortably accommodates 4 to 6 people. The base consists of a frame of galvanized steel, stainless steel or aluminum, executed with catamaran floats and with a cellar compartment. The front part of the floats are slanted for maximum maneuverability while sailing. The houseboat has a living area of over 51 m². The roof is suitable for a roof terrace of 24 m². The lounge boasts an open kitchen, providing beautiful views over the water to the outside through three large sliding doors. All around there is a gangway about 50 cm wide. On both sides there is a terrace: the front terrace of 14 m² and the rear terrace which has an outdoor shower. The open kitchen is part of the living room, where you can relax comfortably and enjoy an unobstructed view. There are two pleasant bedrooms, each with ample space for a double bed. There is also an additional room which can be furnished with a bunk bed or used as a study, for example. The layout can be adapted to your own wishes. The modern bathroom has a shower, sink and toilet.

Use and accessibility
It is possible to dock the houseboat in a harbor or quay. It can also be moored almost anywhere on the water by means of a system of spud poles (wooden anchor poles which fix themselves in the ground). This is what complete freedom feels like!

Sustainable design
The houseboat is completely sustainable in both construction and use: only sustainable materials were used in the construction and it was manufactured with the most advanced techniques. The houseboat is 100% ecological* and self-sufficient. It is possible to live on the water without the use of utilities from April to October. Connection to electricity and clean drinking water is not necessary. The houseboat is heated with a pellet stove (optional) and underfloor heating (optional). Eight solar panels on the roof and large lithium battery packs ensure that the houseboat is completely self-sufficient.

The newly built houseboats are produced in three sizes, and it is possible to design the layout entirely to your own taste.

*Ecological: accomplished with an IBA system with three compartments, the first for grease and soap residue separation, the 2nd tank is aerated with 600L of air per hour, and bacteria provide the cleaning. The 3rd tank filters out all residues and discharges the water clean to the surface water. This process is organic and requires limited maintenance. One condition is that a dry toilet is used **, since the system cannot handle feces.
**Dry toilet = In the toilet, urine and feces are separated; urine goes into the IBA and the feces goes into a bio-tank. That container dries the feces and extracts moisture and air. As a result, it does not smell. The bio-tank can be emptied into the green compost bin at home once every three weeks.
