Colonia del Sacramento: Location and surroundings of this property

The estate is about 25 km from Colonia del Sacramento facing directly the river Plate. It is 15 km to the local airport.
Colonia del Sacramento is a city in the southwest of Uruguay, by the Rio de la Plata, in front of Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is one of the oldest cities in Uruguay and capital of the department of Colonia.
The South Quarter, Historic District of Colonia del Sacramento, declared Cultural Patrimony of Humanity by UNESCO in 1995, is the internationally recognized departmental tourist attraction.
Colonia del Sacramento has preserved its original characteristics according to its very special colonial history. Founded in 1680 by the Portuguese Manuel Lobo, the city passed from Portuguese dominion to Spanish rule several times, until the Declaration of Independence in 1825. These events made the Colonial capital a crucible of architectural styles in which buildings of Portuguese colonial style and Spanish houses are juxtaposed at close quarters.
Its houses, its cobbled streets, its typical lanterns, and its magical sunsets have seduced visitors ever since. The Field Gate, the Street of Sighs, the lighthouse, art galleries and other historic sites makes you feel like walking through history put back to life.
