This unique house is looking for its kind regarding arquitecture, location and environment. The land is located 100 meters from the banks of the River Plate with a front of 110 m and the length of 500 m. It is the result o f a contest among architecture students in 2005, of which the now well recognised arquitect Rafael La Paz won the first prize. His idea was inspired by two rocks collected in the place where the house would be built alluding to resources of Land Art or conceptual art. Nowadays, this arquitectural jewel sits on a 5.5-hectare property on the coast of Colonia, Uruguay and with direct access to the banks of the river Plate. The final work represents a mixture of styles quoting the owner´s travel memories around the globe: the Mediterranean white houses, the idea of a villa and its deconstruction to medieval landscapes. The heart of the house is given by a colorful patio of 7 x 7 m made of antique and recycled tiles of former Uruguayan mansions, whose color combinations break with the austerity of the glossy black floor of the house and the white of the walls. It can be accessed from all sides inside the house. All materials - the marble of the bathrooms, the wood of the kitchen drawers, their furniture, the granite floor tiles - testify the owner´s attention and passion to detail and quality. The house provides an internal height of 6 m. Most of the surfaces are places equipped with unique furniture of the "Biedermeier", "Art Deco" and "Barock" epoques. This project is completed with an accesible garage and a round swimming pool made of stones from the area and filled with water coming from an own source.
