The district of Eggerscheidt is located in the northeastern part of the city of Ratingen in the Mettmann district, North Rhine-Westphalia, and is part of the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region. Eggerscheidt is a rather small, nature-oriented locality with a rural character and comparatively low population density—currently around 917 people live here. Geographically, Eggerscheidt is characterized by its location west of the Federal Motorway 3 (A3). The Angerbach stream runs to the south, and in the northwest the railway line from Essen to Düsseldorf runs past the area; via the Hösel S-Bahn station it provides fast access to the regional rail network.
