Modica appears "in the shape of a split pomegranate," as defined by Gesualdo Bufalino, nestled on hills that converge towards the bed of two rivers, covered in the early 1900s, which is now the current Corso, the junction point of the "pomegranate," whose seeds are nothing more than the numerous small houses clinging to the rock, some carved into the rock, separated by a maze of alleyways and medieval-flavored staircases.
