Description

The name "otium" refers to a concept of leisure, peace, tranquility, and freedom from daily commitments. It is a time dedicated to relaxing and regenerative activities, which can find full expression in this property. Built in the nineties with quality criteria, it was intended for summer use, with the pool at the center of the back garden and plenty of greenery around. In 2018, it was renovated and made habitable in any season, while retaining much of its original character. The flooring echoes local colors, also recognizable in the tiling of the 3 bathrooms. The heating/cooling system with a heat pump ensures ideal comfort inside the 4 bedrooms and the central living area, connected to the kitchen with remarkable finishes: marble on the kitchen countertops, exposed stone on parts of the facades and decorations. Schüco aluminum fixtures, with thick glass, occupy entire walls, guaranteeing natural light at all times and effective thermal insulation. Simple and tastefully designed artificial lighting. Covered area of about 150 square meters, to which the masonry porch, perfectly south-facing, is added. External wooden pergolas providing shade, defining areas for breakfast, outdoor lunch, sunset aperitifs, and dinner with the lights of the pool and garden. From the terrace, the sea view becomes enchanting. In the center of the lawn, a gazebo recalling Provençal style and a garden with productive olive trees. It is a house also suitable for people with limited mobility because the internal and external floors coincide. Maximum security thanks to the high fence. Double entrance gate and private internal driveway. Alarm and video surveillance system. Exclusive well and compliant septic tank. Solar panel for hot water.

Location: Ugento, Apulia

Torre San Giovanni, a district of Ugento, is a locality on the Ionian Sea in a prime position, equidistant from Gallipoli and Santa Maria di Leuca, with one of the most exotic coasts in the area. Together with Lido Marini, Torre Mozza, and Mare Verde, it comprises the 15 km of coastline of the municipality of Ugento, predominantly sandy. On this stretch, you find coastal basins; the natural regional park that extends from the sea to the highest part of the hinterland hill, and naturally kilometers of highly sought-after beaches. The marina has a few hundred inhabitants during the cold season, but many commercial and dining activities are open all year round. From April, the number of inhabitants grows, making it one of the most frequented centers of the province in summer. It has a port mainly occupied by fishing boats and small private vessels. There are also rental, excursion, and diving services. In the nearest hinterland are Presicce and Acquarica, among the most beautiful villages in Italy, with a dense network of underground oil mills and Baroque-style churches. The municipality of Salve, which includes the marinas of Pescoluse, Torre Vado, and Posto Vecchio. Small towns and localities, now known and sought after by many travelers in all seasons: for the always warm temperature, for the lifestyle, for the genuine food, and because in this area the sun is the undisputed protagonist, along with the sea. Yet there is more: Ugento. This city has a very important archaeological museum, with findings that also enrich the collection of the Taranto museum, like the Zeus of Ugento. And it has a well-known history in the Messapian era that continually emerges from archaeological activities. A pleasant discovery in the hinterland, for those who are not satisfied with just coastal beauty.
