Germignaga: Modernity and comfort just steps from the lake

Germignaga lies on the Lombardy shore of Lake Maggiore, practically next to Luino. In Germignaga, you can find a beautiful park where you can relax, take walks and enjoy picnics in the shade of the tall trees that characterize the “Boschetto” of Germignaga. There is also a small beach equipped for children, with drinking fountains and a volleyball court. The town has all essential services and also benefits from its very close proximity to Luino, from whose international railway station it is possible to reach nearby Switzerland and Milan. Luino is rich in history and culture, with a strong literary tradition, having been the birthplace of many contemporary writers, poets and actors. Luino is famous for its wonderful new lakeside promenade, which features two playgrounds, a walkway suspended over the lake and a beach, “Le Serenelle”, recently certified as having excellent bathing-water quality. Another beach, a short distance from Luino, is located in the hamlet of Colmegna, famous for its crystal-clear waters. The historic center is lovely to explore, with its uphill streets, Renaissance and Baroque buildings, arcaded inner courtyards, artisan workshops and shops. One of the main attractions is the Wednesday market, one of Luino’s most important events: a genuine weekly fair with more than 350 stalls lining the streets of the center and the lakeside promenade. For sports enthusiasts and anyone who enjoys life on the water, there is the Alto Verbano Sailing Association, as well as the extensive service provided by Lake Maggiore Navigation, which can take you to the Borromean Islands or nearby Switzerland. Not far from Luino, in Maccagno, lies the small Forcora ski resort.
