Localisation : Cadegliano-Viconago, Lombardie
Cadegliano-Viconago is a municipality with a strong landscape identity, located in the Valmarchirolo area, on a hillside slope overlooking the western basin of Lake Lugano (Ceresio). The area is characterized by small historic hamlets, stone villages, and scenic vistas offering open views of the lake and the surrounding Prealps, in a setting that remains authentic and secluded, in close contact with nature. From a historical standpoint, the municipality has ancient origins: in Roman times the area was already crossed by the Via Mediolanum–Bilitio, which connected Milan to Lugano and Swiss territory, confirming its longstanding role as a link between Italy and Switzerland. The name “Ceresio,” used to refer to Lake Lugano, has Latin origins (“Ceresium”) and an uncertain etymology: according to some interpretations it may derive from “cerasa” (cherry), according to others from older pre-Latin roots; in any case, it is the poetic and historical name of Lake Lugano, today shared between Italy and Switzerland and set in a highly evocative Alpine context. It is therefore a borderland territory—scenic and historic—where nature, culture, and international connections intertwine in a unique way. The property is located in the Municipality of Cadegliano Viconago, in a strategic position between Italy and Switzerland, close to the Lavena Ponte Tresa Italian–Swiss border crossing (about 2–3 km), which allows quick access to the Swiss Confederation and to the city of Lugano, reachable in about 15–20 km. Varese is approximately 25–30 km away, while Milan can be reached in about 60–70 km, ensuring convenient connections to the region’s main economic and cultural hub. Milan Malpensa International Airport is located about 45–50 km away, making national and international travel particularly convenient. For golf enthusiasts, nearby are the Lugano Golf Club in Magliaso (about 20 km) and the Varese Golf Club in Luvinate (about 30 km). The Municipality of Cadegliano-Viconago offers the main basic services, while a wider range of facilities, including supermarkets, banks, a pharmacy, restaurants, and school services, is easily accessible in the nearby centers of Lavena Ponte Tresa, Marchirolo, and Luino, reachable within a few minutes.
