As a service-providing organisation to arrange the sale and lease of top-quality residential and commercial properties, in the past 40 years Engel & Völkers has established itself as a unique brand –not only through out Germany but also on an international scale. Today Engel & Völkers is represented in Germany alone with some 300 residential property shops and over 50 commercial offices.
The success story of Engel & Völkers began in Hamburg in 1977, when the company arranged leases and sales of top-quality residential properties in the villa market of Hamburg’s suburbs located at the River Elbe. From the very outset, the focus of our corporate objectives was on achieving a maximum degree of advisory expertise as the basis for nationwide growth. The foundations were created with the introduction of our shop concept in the 1990s for one of the fastest-growing franchise systems in the real estate sector.

In Germany, Engel & Völkers took over market leadership in the field of top-quality residential properties within record time. Apart from expansion in Hamburg, the network grew particularly in the cities from Munich to Berlin and including Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, and Stuttgart. Today we have a nationwide presence with our Residential Property Shops in Germany thanks to their clear and unmistakable corporate identity – and with up to 45 shops in all 16 German federal states. In Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin, Brandenburg, Bremen, Hamburg, Hesse, Mecklenburg-West Pomerania, Lower Saxony, North-Rhine-Westphalia, the Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland region, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Schleswig-Holstein and Thuringia, we advise and support our customers both individually and comprehensively.
Engel & Völkers Commercial – focus on commercial properties
The Commercial business division was founded in 1988, just over ten years after the company was established. By arranging leases and sales of commercial properties, in the course of the last 30 years Engel & Völkers also managed to acquire a first-class name in this segment and today is represented in over 80 owner-operated offices worldwide, a large proportion of these being based in Germany. Our private and institutional customers have come to appreciate the market proximity and real estate-specific expertise of our Consultants on site as well as our comprehensive range of services. Our fields of competence include the development of marketing strategies for owners and project developers, arranging leases and sales of properties to users and investors, individual consultancy for location optimisation projects or corporatere locations, property appraisals, market analyses as well as contract management.

Another argumentin favour of our truly service-geared concept also includes us being awarded inthe course of the real estate agent ranking by the German Customer Institute (Deutsches Kundeninstitut – DKI) and the finance weekly Euro am Sonntag in2014, in which Engel & Völkers also won the brand award conferred by the property sector in the category “Beste Unternehmensmarke” (best corporate brand) – followed by the quality hallmark “Top National Employer” awarded by the news magazine Focus in 2015. In March 2017, the business weekly Focus Money distinguished Engel & Völkers as a “Happy Brand” in the category of “real estate agents”: a test was conducted of over 1,500 brands from a total of 87 industry segments according to the categories of happiness, total mentions (number of all neutral and positive citations), pride, trust & confidence, and individuality. In the process, ten thousands of online messages and a million social media sources were analysed and evaluated between December 2015 and November 2016.
