History
Retiro is a district of Madrid located in the southeast of the central area of the city. Its history is marked by the park of the same name and by the railway facilities situated in the south and east of the district. In general terms, it can be said that it is a district of varied character, full of contrasts, prosperous and thriving. It is one of the most touristy areas of the city of Madrid.

Neighborhoods
Jerónimos: The Retiro Park, together with the Paseo del Prado, has given its character to the Jerónimos area, while the other neighborhoods have gradually consolidated over the years, each with its own particular features.
Pacífico: Its name refers to Avenida del Pacífico, the former name of the current Avenida de la Ciudad de Barcelona.
Adelfas: Originally a settlement for immigrants and industrial establishments, it has undergone a significant transformation process.
Niño Jesús and Estrella: These are residential neighborhoods with a growing economic profile. Felipe González lived in Estrella during the Transition, as did the actor and playwright Achero Mañas.
Ibiza: This area stands out for its significant commercial zone.

Culture and leisure
A cultural district par excellence, home to landmarks such as the Prado Museum, the Palace of Communications, the Pantheon of Illustrious Men, and the Basilica of the Virgen de Atocha.
Retiro Park, together with the Paseo del Prado, is one of the most emblematic locations in Madrid, a must-visit for tourists and a meeting point for residents seeking to escape the noisy and worldly bustle of the city. Above all, however, Retiro is a park to enjoy with family. With more than 15,000 trees and a large rose garden, it provides an ideal setting for children to play. The pond’s boating area offers the opportunity to rent rowboats and take a ride on its tourist boat.
