Torrevieja Old Town
Discover the coastal centre and its attractions

Torrevieja does not have a traditional old town as such, what is known as the old town is nowadays known as Torrevieja Centre, or Centre. It is quite contemporary, vibrant and thoroughly modern, a far cry from the typical Spanish old town.

Torrevieja Centro is opposite the beaches on one side and the marina on the other. Most of the time you can witness jet skiing, parasailing and many nautical activities on Torrevieja's promenade. This is one of the few coastal areas in Spain (along with Benidorm) where you can find modern amenities in the city centre together with a Mediterranean resort lifestyle. It is not uncommon to see the night bars frequented by both executives and families in relaxed beachwear.
The city's main square, right in the heart of the centre, is called the Constitution Square. This charming square is flanked by a beautiful park, the Parque de las Naciones on one side and a large church on the other. The bustling Centro is home to many of Torrevieja's museums, historical monuments, parks and water parks.

Beaches
The local beaches of Torrevieja have the European Blue Flag and excellent facilities. One of these beaches, Playa del Cura is right in front of the town centre. Two long breakwaters protect the beach from the open sea, resulting in gentle, low waves. This makes it safe for small children to have fun and for adults to have a quiet swim. Just behind the beach is a large esplanade called the Avenida de Los Marineros. This palm tree lined promenade has numerous restaurants, cafes, ice cream parlours and bars.
The old town is also in close proximity to many coves, beaches and salt pools such as:
Punta Carral O Margalla
Natural Swimming Pools
Artificial Pools

Nightlife
There are a variety of cosmopolitan entertainment and nightlife venues, including pubs, karaoke bars and nightclubs. These cater to a diverse range of tastes and age groups. Some of the most popular clubs and pubs in the Centre include:

Ultra Skandinavisk Bar & Nattklubb
Genius
Noisse Discotheque
