Beaches and promenades of Los Balcones

As Los Balcones is an inland village, there are no beaches within its urbanisation. However, it is very close to two popular Blue Flag beaches at Punta Prima and Torrevieja, the nearest is Punta Prima, which is only 2 kilometres or a short drive away.

Punta Prima beach and promenade

A small and quiet beach located in the town of Punta Prima, in the south of the Costa Blanca. The beach is awarded with the Blue Flag for exceeding the highest standards of cleanliness, safety and water quality. It has white and golden sands, crystal clear waters and a wide selection of restaurants and bars, some of which are open late into the night. There is also an electric bike hire service for those wishing to explore the shores more comfortably.

Wheelchair access: the beach at Punta Prima also offers wheelchair access for people with reduced mobility. On the promenade you will find a lift that will take you down to the beach level, where you will again find assistance in the form of flat concrete surfaces and wheelchair ramps.
The lift is located at the south-western end of the promenade, where it leads to Calle Fragata (the Go-Karting side of the promenade). There is also an informal parking area nearby. You can get directions to the area here.

The boardwalk or promenade of Punta Prima beach stretches from end to end, with beach bars and restaurants, and offers magnificent panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea, especially at sunset and sunrise.

• La Mata beach and promenade

La Mata beach is one of the most popular beaches in Torrevieja. This Blue Flag is also the longest in Torrevieja, at 2.3 kilometres long. It has fine golden sands and a diverse natural environment, as it is surrounded by the La Mata Natural Park. Near the beach there is a pine forest contributing to the fresh air even in the hot summer months.

The promenade of La Mata covers much of the beach and has many restaurants and beach bars serving all kinds of drinks and a variety of tapas and snacks. Beach lovers can walk or cycle along the promenade, which runs from Cabo Cervera to the end of La Mata, or have a few drinks in one of the beach bars while enjoying the cool sea breeze.

As a residential urbanisation, Los Balcones has a wide variety of restaurants serving traditional Spanish and international cuisine.

• Alingui Restaurant

The restaurant serves Spanish and European cuisine, including breakfast, and has a bar serving different types of soft drinks and speciality drinks. Alingui is known for its very economical menú del día, which offers three courses at a very reasonable price. It is well worth a visit.

• Attila's kitchen & sylvia's lounge

Run by a Hungarian-born couple, Attila and Sylvia, the restaurant offers an excellent dining experience for its customers, serving dishes from various cuisines, Spanish, Hungarian, French, and more. The restaurant also serves a wide variety of wines, cocktails and local spirits.

• Wan Yuan Chinese Restaurant

The Chinese Restaurant Wan Yuan, serving authentic Chinese cuisine, is ideal for families or large groups of people. It has vegetarian options on the menu as well as ready meals. The food also comes in large portions, which is perfect for sharing.

Los Balcones Parks

The area of Los Balcones has many large parks and natural green spaces. The main park of Los Balcones is over 500 metres long and offers a large children's play area, a dog park, basketball courts, football pitch, table tennis tables, sheltered areas, lawns, benches and plenty of space to enjoy a relaxing stroll.
The park is located between Iradier Bal Street and Avenida de la Asunción in Los Balcones, right next to the shopping centre Filton.

Nightlife in Los Balcones

Despite its small size and quiet residential atmosphere, Los Balcones has a lot to offer within the town when it comes to nightlife:

• El Balcon de las Tapas

Restaurant and tapas bar serving freshly made tapas (Spanish snacks on a plate usually accompanied by a drink). The Tapas Balcony offers barbecue nights, where guests can enjoy freshly prepared barbecues while listening to live music. Sometimes the restaurant bar also organises karaoke nights and guests are invited to choose the song or just sing along.

• Jessie's bar

This bar offers different types of entertainment for their customers, ranging from karaoke night, trivia night and Open the Box, to sports viewing night and even live music sessions. Jessie's Bar serves wines and local cocktails as well as tapas and light meals.

Another option for a fun and memorable nightlife for those staying at Los Balcones is to head to Torrevieja and enjoy the numerous pubs, bars and restaurants located in the town that are open late into the night. These offer numerous entertainment options, including live bands and DJs and even discotheques for those who want to dance the night away. Taxis can be hailed in the main streets of Los Balcones, usually close to the Filton Centre. You can also book them online and schedule a pick-up at a specified location. Taxi fares to Torrevieja cost around 14 € depending on the specific location, and journey time is about 12 minutes.

• Filton centre

Situated around an open-air square and with two floors, Filton Centre offers a wide selection of tapas bars and restaurants, including those serving Spanish, Italian, Chinese and even Indian dishes. There is also a supermarket, where you can buy frozen food, ready meals, drinks and hygiene and household products. In the centre you can also find opticians, dentists, estate agents, as well as dry cleaning services.

• Mercadona Supermarket

Mercadona is a large supermarket belonging to a Spanish family owned supermarket chain with many branches all over the country. The branch in Los Balcones offers everything from fresh seafood, frozen meat and canned food to condiments and spices, beverages, ready meals, hygiene products, cosmetics and household goods.

• Bus line E

The Bus Line E is the main bus that takes passengers to and from Los Balcones. The bus travels from Torrevieja - Los Balcones - Lago Jardin and back, with a pick up / drop off stop near the supermarket Mercadona and the pharmacy Los Balcones (Route CV-92). The following is the timetable for the Line E bus:

From October to May:
