Charming residence just steps away from the heart of Ragusa Ibla

Ragusa Ibla, located at the southernmost tip of Sicily, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2002 and is one of the finest Baroque centers of the Val di Noto. With ancient origins dating back to the Neolithic period, it stands on the site of the famous Hibla Heraia. Throughout history, it has been influenced by all the dominations that passed through the island, each leaving its mark and creating a cultural layering that together forms a unique blend: from the Greeks to the Romans, from the Arabs to the Normans, under whom it became an autonomous county. After the devastating earthquake of 1693, Ragusa rose again, unlike other towns, on the same site. This is why it retains a medieval layout alongside dramatic squares and Baroque palaces with facades made from the region’s golden local stone. Known as the "island within an island" due to its history and its distinct economic context compared to the rest of Sicily, its territory can be considered a small microcosm, as it encompasses diverse landscapes within a few kilometers: fine, golden sandy beaches bathed by the Mediterranean Sea, countryside rich in carob trees, characterized by dry-stone walls, hills with gently sloping green olive groves, deep canyons carved over millennia by rushing rivers, and a fertile land that has shaped the character of its people—hospitable and open to new ideas. In recent years, Ragusa has broadened its horizons, investing heavily in hospitality with a focus on the Marina di Ragusa, the most beautiful and well-equipped tourist port in southern Italy, and the Comiso airport, just twenty minutes away.
