The municipality of Calco is in the province of Lecco. It is located in the hills that flank the Adda. The area is relatively hilly and has a minimum height of 193 meters above sea level. Calco Superiore is a fraction and consists of places such as Verscogna, Sant’Ambrogio, Torre, Ronco, etc. It was in this fraction that Alessandro Calchi built a small church dedicated to Saints Charles and Magdalene. In regards to civil architecture, you will find the famous Villa Calchi, a sixteenth-century residence with frescoes from the early Lombard Renaissance. It enjoys a unique position being on top of a hill from which you can admire Lake Sartirana. To the north-east, the Resegone and the Grigna are visible. The municipality is served by the Olgiate Molgora train, Calco - Brivio, and it is crossed by the Provincial road (ex-state road 342 "Briantea"), by the Como – Bergamo road, and by state road 36 of Lake Como and Spluga. The infrastructures allow convenient connections with major cities: Lecco is only 23 km away (17 minutes by car), the Lombard metropolis of Milan and its international airports, Malpensa and Linate can be reached in less than an hour by car, the town of Bergamo divided into “Lower Town” and “Upper Town” can be reached in less than 40 minutes, while the Swiss city of Lugano is about 65 km away.
