This little town is located 40 km from Siena and offers a great variety of artistic and cultural highlights, such as castles, churches, squares, but also delicious food and wine tastings. Piazza Matteotti builds the center of the city as it is possible to enjoy the beauty of this place sitting in one of the coffee shops or wine bars.
Panzano is a typical medieval village in Tuscany with a complicated past since it was reconstructed many times during the centuries. The most important attraction is the church of Santa Maria, built on the structures of the old castle. The village hosts an assortment of premises and open-spaced restaurants recalling the classic “medieval village atmosphere”.
In this very characteristic village you should walk along the so-called “Via delle Volte”, a very suggestive road showing a breathtaking view of the Chianti hills and stately houses. Furthermore, Castellina was a strategic point in the period of the fights between Florence and Siena.
This village is characterized by a great amount of castles and fortresses with great historical value. The most popular ones are: Brolio’s Castle, Meleto’s Castle and Vertine’s Castle. Among the highlights, also the adjacent farmhouses and wineries play an important role.
The village of Castelnuovo Berardenga is situated in the Southern part of the Valle del Chianti and hosts a rich asset of churches, villas and beautiful gardens. It is a rather quiet area allowing long walks along its ancient streets and delicious tastings of Tuscany specialties afterwards.
