Roman remains – From Faro to São Brás de Alportel

Portugal has countless traces of the Roman presence, and the Algarve is no exception. In the eastern Algarve, for example, we find the famous ruins of Milreu, in the historic village of Estoi, located just 8 kilometres from Faro. Further north, following National Road 2 towards the Serra do Caldeirão, in the municipality of São Brás de Alportel, there are two relatively well-preserved stretches of Roman road.
