Emblematic Mont-Ferrant sparkling wine cellar

Born in Blanes and returned from America, Agustí Vilaret, who had made fortunes in the Antillans, founded the Mont-Ferrant sparkling wine cellars in 1865, making it the oldest cava producer among the current companies in the sector. During the Civil War, the cellars became a safe place of refuge for people thanks to the more than 4 000 m2 of underground galleries. These galleries extend over four levels and are only 500 metres from the sea. Today we find there the old country house with two floors of about 160 m2 each, a large open space of about 400 m2 and several storage and dressing rooms, making a total of 1,200 m2.
