Particularly charming are cafés with attached farm shops – places where you can enjoy homemade cakes while shopping for regional products. Hof Ehlers, Hasenmoor – Idyllic & Family-Friendly

In the heart of Hasenmoor lies the family-run Hof Ehlers. The farm café invites guests to linger with homemade cakes, fresh sandwiches, and coffee – especially lovely in the blooming farmhouse garden on sunny days. In the farm shop, you’ll find meat from their own pasture-raised animals, eggs, vegetables, and homemade jams – all certified organic, of course. Visitors are welcome to explore the entire farm, interact with the animals, and take in the peaceful rural atmosphere. A true experience for the whole family.

Gut Wulfsdorf, Ahrensburg – Organic Delights at Hamburg’s Doorstep

Gut Wulfsdorf offers a welcome escape from city life: instead of traffic noise, you’ll hear the authentic sounds of the countryside – cows, sheep, chickens, and the occasional tractor. At the farm shop café, you can enjoy fair trade organic coffee, homemade cake, wood-fired quiche, and vegan soups – mostly made from the farm’s own produce.

The farm shop’s organic selection is high-quality and carefully curated, with many products made in-house or Demeter-certified. A new highlight is the Wulfsdorf Ice Cream Stand, offering ice cream made from the farm’s own milk, vegan sorbets, and sugar-free varieties – perfect for a break in the greenery.

A worthwhile stop for food lovers and families – complete with a play area and walking trail starting point.

Backensholzer Hof, Oster-Ohrstedt – Organic Cheese & Farm Kitchen with Values

Backensholzer Hof stands for true craftsmanship, ecological farming, and award-winning organic cheese – all made on-site in their own dairy. Whether it’s “Mors” or “Deichkäse” – you can taste the origin and quality.

The farm kitchen offers seasonal dishes made from their own ingredients: quiche, soup, cake – all organic, much of it vegetarian or vegan, always fresh and honestly prepared.

In the farm shop, you'll find not just cheese, but also meat, dairy products, and seasonal vegetables – all regional, sustainable, and ethically produced.

Steinbecker Farm Shop, Rendswühren – Homemade & Deeply Rooted in the Region

Since 2005, the Steinbecker Hofladen has stood for rural quality and warm hospitality. The meat comes from their own cattle and pigs – slaughtered and processed right on the farm. At the deli counter, you’ll find classics like liver sausage, smoked ham, and traditional farmer’s sausage with mustard seeds or garlic. The offering is rounded out with carefully selected products from local producers, including cheese, sea buckthorn specialties, and organic dairy products.

In the cozy farm café, the farmer’s wife bakes daily – from poppy-marzipan cake and buckwheat cake to the beloved “Himmelstorte” with seasonal fruit filling. For savory options, there's potato salad with sausage or smoked meats. And the best part: you eat in the garden, with a view of grazing cows.

Himbeerhof Jürgens, Schmalensee – A Summery Berry Paradise

From June to August, Himbeerhof Jürgens is a true hotspot for berry lovers. In the seasonal café, you can enjoy fresh raspberry cake, ice cream, and smoothies – all made from the farm’s own harvest. The farm shop sells fresh berries, homemade jams, and liqueurs. If you like, you can even pick your own raspberries – a fun activity for the whole family.

Farm cafés: more than just a stopover

Whether for a weekend outing or a spontaneous coffee break – Schleswig-Holstein’s farm cafés offer authentic country moments that delight all the senses. And anyone who loves regional products is sure to find something special here. So grab your coffee cup, head to the countryside – and discover what real farms have to offer.
