Franchising in Germany: A compelling business model

What began as Ray Kroc’s vision has evolved into one of the most successful business concepts worldwide: franchising. Initially focused on the standardization and distribution of consistent fast-food products in the U.S., this idea has since been adopted and adapted across nearly every industry. Yet the core goal has remained unchanged: to create a widely recognized brand offering consistent standards—anytime, anywhere.

That this concept is gaining increasing traction across Germany is clearly reflected in revenue growth. In 2005, the total nationwide revenue of franchise businesses was approximately €32.3 billion. By 2021, that number had more than quadrupled, reaching €135.8 billion.

The hospitality and gastronomy sectors currently account for 20% of franchise models in Germany, placing them at the top of the market. Real estate brokerage and rental follow with around 10%, playing an equally vital role. One of the world’s leading service providers in the premium real estate segment is Engel & Völkers. With over 16,500 people operating at more than 1,000 locations on five continents, we offer private and institutional clients around the globe a consistently high standard—one that you, too, can soon represent and deliver.

Engel & Völkers Real Estate Franchise: Making career success simple

As a franchisee with an Engel & Völkers license, you receive comprehensive support—while still remaining your own boss. Ray Kroc’s original vision for franchising involved handing over a meticulously crafted script to every employee, ensuring that identical movements would produce a consistent product everywhere.

That vision, however, does not align with ours. At Engel & Völkers, we put a forward-looking business model in your hands—one you can successfully develop with our support. Rather than dictating every move, we guide you through key decisions, especially during the crucial start-up phase, giving you a significant head start. Among other things, you’ll receive expert support in operations, IT, marketing, PR, and sales.

As an Engel & Völkers franchisee, you don’t just manage one or more real estate shops—you also gain exclusive rights to a license territory with strong market potential. On top of that, you’ll benefit from ongoing marketing support, helping you to continuously optimize and grow your territory. In addition to our extensive support services, our in-house Academy gives you the opportunity to constantly enhance your skills and stay up to date.

With this level of support, career success is never far behind. If you’re ready to benefit from our proven franchise system, our expansion managers will show you what it takes in the next section.

Would you like to reach the same conclusion and enrich our franchise network with your presence? Then now is the time to become a franchisee with Engel & Völkers in Germany or Austria.

The initial franchise fee is €42,500, which grants you a 10-year license for your chosen territory. Your total investment and equity contribution are tailored to your individual circumstances. Based on the experience of our expansion managers, the average total investment ranges between €250,000 and €400,000.
