Hollywood meets Mallorca, the home of glitz, glamour, and star-studded real estate

Lights, camera, action: Mallorca is the star of the Mediterranean, according to the visiting A-list. Our favourite Balearic island continues to be a blockbuster hit with Hollywood’s elite, who are drawn to its diverse natural beauty, luxurious amenities, and tranquillity. The island also hosts multiple film festivals, from Evolution Mallorca International Film Festival to Atlantida. Here are just some of the celebrities that have hit the sandy shores to relax and unwind in recent years.

Jennifer Aniston — From the city lights of Los Angeles to the sparkling sea of Es Trenc

Her girl-next-door role as Rachel in the sitcom Friends stole our hearts and it looks like Mallorca has stolen hers. Here on the island, Jennifer Aniston loves the beaches, especially Es Trenc in the southeast—similar to those in closer-to-home Mexico, where she also holidays—and the quaint streets of the island’s sandstone villages. Check out these A-list properties in the southeast that are destined for stardom.

Michael Fassbender — Born in Ireland, drawn to Mediterranean real estate

The twice Oscar-nominated Irish actor tied the knot with Swedish actor Alicia Vikander on the island of Ibiza in 2017, so it makes perfect sense that they enjoy visiting Mallorca. Known for his stand-out roles in indie films like Shame and blockbusters like Marvel, Fassbender moved with his family to Lisbon, making their trips to the Mediterranean even easier. Fassbender has added car racing to his résumé and enjoys adrenaline-fuelled water sports activities and exploring nature here on the island.

Orlando Bloom — From Hollywood to homeownership on Mallorca

Famous for embodying countless roles, from elfin Legolas in the Lord of the Rings movies to brooding Will Turner in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, the British actor likes to take a break in Mallorca with his partner, pop star Katy Perry, and their children. Bloom owns a property here on the island and has been seen aboard yachts and on land, exploring everywhere from Port de Sóller to Palma’s Old Town and hiking in the Tramuntana mountain range.

Gwyneth Paltrow — Luxury living, wellness, and fine food in paradise

The Oscar-winning American actress and the founder and CEO of wellness brand goop speaks fluent Spanish, which is useful during her trips to Mallorca. Known for her roles in movies like Shakespeare in Love and X-Men, Paltrow has shared glimpses of her time on the island on her social media. She also filmed a cooking show in the village of Deià on the west coast, where she has stayed at the exclusive La Residencia hotel, an A-list favourite—Hollywood heavyweights Tom Hanks and Harrison Ford are also fans.

Leonardo DiCaprio — Living the A-list life on land and at sea

The Wolf of Wall Street star keeps coming back to the Balearics. DiCaprio has a penchant for superyachts, which are perfect for exploring the coastline and sailing over to the party island of Ibiza with his friends. The award-winning American actor has recently been spotted enjoying the sights and the sunshine at beach clubs in Portals. The Los Angeles-born tar also enjoys cycling around and playing the odd game of tennis. Nicole Kidman (and Zoe Saldaña) — Bringing star-studded glamour to Palma

The executive producer and star of the new Paramount+ series Special Ops: Lioness spent months filming on location in Mallorca earlier this year. The espionage thriller also stars Morgan Freeman and Kidman’s friend and fellow executive producer Zoe Saldaña, who worked on Guardians of the Galaxy at Palma Music Studios while she was here. During Kidman’s time on the island, she stayed at Villa Solitaire in Son Vida, a masterpiece villa designed by the Milanese architect Matteo Thun. Son Vida is one of Mallorca’s most prestigious neighbourhoods, with sea views and proximity to Palma.

Michelle Obama — The former First Lady enjoys first-class holidays in Mallorca

She may not be a Hollywood actor, but she is a star in her own right. The lawyer, author, and former First Lady of the United States has visited Mallorca several times with her famous family, visiting the Spanish royals at their summer palace in Marivent. Since then, she, her husband Barack, and their two daughters have since stayed with friends in the mountain village of Esporles and visited the neighbouring pueblos of Banyalbufar, Sóller, and Deià on Mallorca’s west coast, where you can find a wide range of properties—fit for a President, and a First Lady. The Obamas have also dined at Ca Na Toneta, the contemporary organic restaurant in Caimari, an idyllic village in the heart of the island.
