Weekly markets in Southeast Mallorca

Markets and tips

In the southeast of Mallorca, weekly markets take place every day in different towns. Depending on the size of the market, a variety of products are offered. In addition to handicrafts, jewellery and leather goods, you will always find fresh fruit and vegetables as well as a wide range of Mediterranean delicacies, cheeses and cured meats.

Markets are usually held in the morning. However, some, such as the weekly market in Colònia de Sant Jordi (5–8 pm), are held in the evening.

Santanyí

Every Wednesday and Saturday morning (except on public holidays) from 9 am to around 2 pm is market day in Santanyí, centred around the Plaça Major. The fruit and vegetable stalls are set up right in front of the church at the heart of this charming village. But the market extends far beyond the square: you’ll find additional stalls down the narrow streets and tucked away in little corners.

Several cafés invite you to sit and stay awhile – perfect for enjoying a relaxed breakfast or brunch while watching the hustle and bustle. The market has a unique atmosphere and is popular with both locals from nearby villages and many tourists. Due to the large crowds, we recommend arriving early.

Food lovers will find everything their hearts desire here: alongside fruit, vegetables, clothing, plants, household goods and artworks, you’ll also discover a large selection of regional specialities – including cheeses, cured meats, olives, stuffed pastries, liqueurs and wines. A special highlight is the coarse sea salt from the nearby salt flats, the so-called “Fleur de Sal”, traditionally harvested at Cap de Ses Salines.

Manacor

The weekly market in Manacor takes place every Monday in the Plaça Ramon Llull. The town is known for its high-quality olive wood products as well as the famous Majorica pearl factory. At the market, you have the opportunity to buy the iconic pearls directly on-site.

Food plays a lesser role here. However, if you are looking for fresh fruit and vegetables, a good selection can be found every morning on the Plaça Constitució.

Felanitx

The weekly market in Felanitx is held every Sunday from around 9 am to 1 pm. Numerous stalls are set up around the parish church of Sant Miquel, and there is also entertainment for children with bouncy castles.

The range of goods includes leather items and clay pots, as well as live animals such as chickens, rabbits, pheasants, and geese. Of course, leather handbags, wallets, sunglasses and belts are also on offer. You won’t find cheap plastic goods here.

Compared to other markets on the island, the Felanitx market retains a very traditional character and is less geared towards mass tourism, giving it a particularly charming and authentic feel. Visitors are well distributed, which helps ensure a relaxed and enjoyable market experience.

Food products in Felanitx are sold in a separate market hall – even outside of market days (except Mondays). Here you will find all the culinary delights under one roof.
