Castagneto Po is a municipality with around 1,750 inhabitants located on the Turin Hill, just 30 minutes away from the capital. The earliest documents recall the village as a property of the Abbey of San Michele della Chiusa. From the 13th century, it came under the domain of the Savoy-Acaia family until its destruction by French troops in 1705. In the following centuries, the village enjoyed a peaceful existence as an agricultural hamlet, and due to its hilly location, it was not affected by the industrial expansion seen in other parts of the Chivasso area. Of particular interest are the castle, built to replace the fortification destroyed in 1705, and above all, the Romanesque church of San Genesio. Moreover, there is the special natural reserve of Bosco del Vaj, characterized by the presence (now quite are in the Turin Hill area) of beech forests at an altitude lower than 600 meters.
