This small municipality lies on the Piedmontese shore of Lake Maggiore in a hilly position and overlooks the lush shores of the Lake. Tranquility and nature are the features that distinguish the town of Massino Visconti (above Lesa), located a few kilometers from the renowned city of Arona. An important tourist center, well connected to the main highways, close to Malpensa and 60 km from Milan, Arona is situated on the Piedmontese shore of Lake Maggiore. A town with a rich history, Arona was long in the hands of the wealthy and powerful Borromeo family: St. Charles Borromeo was indeed born here, in the castle, in 1538. The town hosts many churches and squares, among which the Church of SS. Martiri and the Collegiate Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary are certainly worth mentioning. The first houses the remains of the village's patrons and preserves, above the main altar, 15th-century frescoes of the Leonardesque school, while the second, originally a Gothic-style parish church, has gradually lost its original style due to numerous renovations. Moving on to the medieval heart of the town, we discover Piazza del Popolo, with its houses of ancient flavor and the pier, where a small lighthouse stands, a favorite spot for tourists. However, the most important and fascinating monument of Arona is undoubtedly the colossus of St. Charles Borromeo, which, with a height of about 35 meters, ranks as the second tallest statue in the world, preceded only by the Statue of Liberty. Arona also offers various activities for tourists: a historic center full of shops and restaurants, a lovely lakeside promenade for walking, and resorts and small beaches to spend warm summer days. In this wonderful historical and natural setting, you can find houses for sale on Lake Maggiore.
