Banksy chose one of our houses in Venice for his masterpiece

A distinctive view of Venice, Italy, with weathered historic buildings facing directly onto a canal. The structures feature traditional Venetian architecture with terracotta roofs, faded brick and stucco facades in muted tones of pink, peach, and white, and typical arched windows. An artistic graffiti can be seen on one of the walls near the water level. To the right, a small bridge crosses the greenish waters of the canal. The buildings show signs of aging and exposure to the water, a common feature in Venice due to its unique location. The roofs are adorned with various antennas and chimneys, and many buildings have balconies or terraces. The sky above is partly cloudy with hints of blue peeking through.

During the days of the Venice Biennale opening, Bansky realized a wall spray stencil - right in the heart of the days of pre-opening of the largest exhibition in the world. Banksy is an English artist and writer, considered one of the greatest exponents of street art, whose real identity is still unknown. His works are often satirical and concern topics such as politics, culture and ethics.

This time the artist chose Venice as a theater for his new work, and in particular an historic building in the San Pantalon area, for sale with Engel & Völkers. The work was carried out directly on the external wall, south side, of this Venetian building of about 400 square meters overlooking the canal, with a water door, a roof terrace "altana" and an additional inner courtyard with an original Venetian wellhead. The graffiti shows a child with his feet in the water wearing a life jacket and holding a flashlight with fuchsia smoke in his right hand.

Certainly the property, already majestic, due to the particular position and the characteristic structure developed on several floors and almost entirely overlooking the water, will increase its visibility even further thanks to the choice of Banksy.

The work, as well as the building, can be admired in all their grandeur by crossing the bridge of San Pantalon, which cross the Rio di Ca’ Foscari and which connects the same named square ‘campo’ to Campo Santa Margherita.

A view of a Venetian canal with a historic building featuring a deteriorated façade. On the wall of the building, a Banksy graffiti depicts a little girl holding a pink balloon. A white boat with people aboard sails through the greenish waters of the canal. The building displays typical Venetian architecture with exposed bricks, faded plaster, and arched windows. The structure shows signs of decay, with exposed bricks where the plaster has fallen off. To the right, part of a small bridge is visible. The graffiti, positioned at water level, contrasts with the ancient building thanks to its vibrant pink color.

It is the second Banky’s piece of art in Italy after the Madonna with a gun in Naples (in 2010), but certainly the first work of the artist to appear in Venice, a city rich of historical and architectural masterpieces imbued with an atmosphere of art and beauty, even in the most unexpected places.

The image showcases a picturesque panorama of a Venetian canal with an elegant white bridge crossing the turquoise-green waters. On the canal's banks, characteristic Venetian buildings in soft pastel tones—pale pink, terracotta, and ochre—stand tall. The facades of the buildings feature typical windows with dark shutters and traditional Venetian architecture. The sky is clear and blue, creating a beautiful contrast with the warm colors of the buildings. A few people are seen on the white bridge, admiring the view. The entire scene captures the essence of Venice with its unique architecture, tranquil canals, and Mediterranean atmosphere. The canal water slightly reflects the surrounding structures, adding depth to the composition.
