This is a predominantly residential and commercial neighborhood. The houses maintain their original architecture, generally having a good size. Originally family-oriented, it concentrates traditional commerce - furniture stores, cafes, restaurants - but also reflects new trends. It is a very interesting neighborhood to live in, given its central location, easy access, public transport network, and proximity to hospitals, schools, and the police.
Arroios has three recently refurbished and modernized markets: Mercado 31 de Janeiro, Mercado de Arroios, with new restaurants at the entrance, and Mercado do Forno do Tijolo, which houses shops with traditional commerce, a CTT store – Portuguese Post Office, the Clodomiro Alvarenga reading room, the Joaquim Campos Sports Complex, consisting of the Arroios Swimming Pool, a multi-sports facility and a playground, as well as the Cultures Market – a multi-use space hosting cultural projects.
