In 2007, the southern bypass of Zorneding was completed, effectively relieving the town of through traffic from Federal Highway B 304. Zorneding lies in the Alpine foothills, on the border between the Munich gravel plain and the Ebersberg Forest. Like neighboring Vaterstetten, Zorneding developed from a farming village into a highly desirable residential community. It has its own S-Bahn station. S-Bahn line S4 runs to Munich every 20 minutes, and every 10 minutes at peak times; the A99 is 7 km away. Zorneding offers a kindergarten, primary school and lower secondary school (Mittelschule in Kirchseeon about 8 km away; grammar school in Vaterstetten or Kirchseeon about 8 km away), doctors, and a wide range of shopping options for daily needs. Cyclists and hikers enjoy the popular cycling and walking paths to the forest lodges in the Ebersberg Forest or to the nearby bathing lakes.
