Engel & Völkers brokers “Bonanza Ranch” for 38 million US dollars

“Television audiences worldwide are familiar with this idyllic land as home of the ‘Ponderosa Ranch’. In 2004 the Sierra Sunset ranch, which we have just brokered, was built on this land. Its exciting history made this deal particularly special for us,” says Real Estate Agent Jean Merkelbach from Engel & Völkers Lake Tahoe. She found the buyer for this outstanding property in the US state of Nevada. The sales price was 38 million US dollars (approx. 32 million euros). In 2013 Merkelbach sold Tranquility – a 48 million US dollars non lakefront estate that was a part of the original Sierra Sunset parcel.

Capacities for 15 horses and unique views of Lake Tahoe

In many ways, the Sierra Sunset is a ranch in a league of its own. It presides over eight bedrooms and ten bathrooms, set on more than 1,600 square metres of living space. More than 440 tons of natural stone were used in its construction, giving the property its special and inimitable charm. A private boat landing stage and stables for 15 horses are just some of the amenities on offer, in addition to a guesthouse, apartments for staff, a private cinema, and a wine cellar. The unique views over Lake Tahoe and close proximity to world-class ski slopes leave nothing to be desired.
