The month of May is here and the city of Barcelona is preparing to offer its residents and visitors the opportunity to enjoy the best entertainment. From family activities to film and live music for those who want to make the most of what the city has to offer. Here we are going to talk about the most important events that will take place during these dates.
The Night of the Museums 2018
The 17th of May is the International Museum Day and Barcelona will once again proceed to open the doors of more than a hundred museums during the night. As this date falls on Thursday, the opening of these museums will be postponed until Saturday, May 19th. This is a unique chance for people to explore museums late at night.
Planta't al Botànic!
The Botanical Garden of Barcelona is also preparing to celebrate a new edition of 'Planta't al Botànic!'. It is an event that celebrates the arrival of spring and through which the organisers of the venue invite visitors to learn the way plants reproduce. For this event, they will organise planting workshops for children and adults, lectures, concerts, gymkhanas and guided tours.
The April Fair
Although this event is called Feria de Abril or April Fair, it covers a good part of the month of May. The festival takes place from April 27th to May 6th at the Fórum Park. There will be more than 100 tents and free entry casetas visiting Barcelona from the south of the country. In fact, in these establishments it will be possible to enjoy a refreshing glass of rebujito (cocktail), a portion of fried fish and a flamenco show.
World Press Photo 2018
During the month of April, Barcelona will have the privilege of hosting the World Press Photo 2018, an exhibition in which you can enjoy seeing the winning pictures of the prestigious photojournalism contest of the same name. This is the fourteenth edition of the event and will accommodate 134 photographs.
The second-hand market of El Flea
It is always a good opportunity to find second hand items that aren't just useful but they can also help us be more environmentally responsible. This is precisely the purpose of El Flea, a 'low cost' market in which it will be possible to find almost anything for less than 5 euros. Clothing, antiques, accessories...
Cinema, art and politics exhibition by Pere Portabella
Pere Portabella has been one of the most important filmmakers and political activists in our country. This is why Filmoteca has prepared an exhibition about this important figure, which has been put together in collaboration with Antoni Vila Casas. At this exhibition, you can discover all the ins and outs of this filmmaker that have influenced his work. There will also be a series of screenings of his films in his honour.
Primera Persona 2018
We want to finish off this article by talking about the Primera Persona 2018 festival, which is directed by the writers, Miqui Otero and Kiko Amat. At this informal event, authors of all genres and generations are invited to express themselves and share their personal experiences with the public.
Taking into account all these events that will take place during the month of May in Barcelona, you will definitely not have time to get bored in this city.
