San Gregorio, Capo d'Orlando to love

San Gregorio, in Capo d’Orlando, is one of the most beautiful fishing villages in the province, gaining fame for inspiring Gino Paoli’s iconic song Sapore di sale. Like him, many artists of the time chose Capo d’Orlando as their summer retreat, making it a key destination of the so-called dolce vita.
Originally a fishermen’s settlement, the village has evolved over the years with the addition of beach clubs and nightlife venues. Its connection to music and entertainment dates back to the 1960s, thanks to the "Discoteca La Tartaruga", part of the namesake hotel that still stands today.
Just a few kilometers from the heart of Capo d’Orlando and steps away from the brand-new tourist harbor, Capo d’Orlando Marina, San Gregorio is undoubtedly one of the town’s most beautiful and charming spots.
What were once fishermen’s homes – the casette – have now been transformed into commercial establishments such as bars and pizzerias, as well as accommodations like apartments and vacation rentals. Despite these changes, they have preserved the traditional architecture and vibrant colors of the maritime style, creating the impression of a place suspended in time.
A little gem: on the hottest summer days, it's common to find several people sitting on the small wall that runs along the beach, just a few meters after exiting the small tunnel that marks the entrance to the village.
This is because, at this point, a particularly cool, almost cold, current forms.
The village is easily accessible both from the coastal road and the main highway.
In terms of residential areas, in the higher part known as "San Gregorio Alto," there are some notable villas with a breathtaking view.
